Ruins of Fastormel The Nerath Campaign & The Nerath Timeline The current year for our Nerath campaign is set during the year 103AE. Inspired By Gary Gygax

Once a prosperous town on the shores of Lake Nen, Fastormel was destroyed by Clan Bloodspear and has never been resettled. The town was ruled by a Lord Mage (the most powerful wizard in town claimed the ruler’s scepter), and the Mistborn Tower of the last Lord Mage still stands amid the ruins of the town. The tower is shrouded in a strange silver mist that never dissipates, no matter what the weather would otherwise dictate.

Our Nentir Vale Campaign World Map Nentir Vale Map
Welcome friends to our homebrewed Nentir Vale campaign setting, a gateway to adventure, wealth and fame — a swathe of tangled woods, fungus-encrusted glades, dangerous woodlands, unexplored mountains and foetid marshlands on the wild borders of civilization. Within these wilderlands, the magical and otherworldly are always close at hand. Standing stones loom in glades hallowed by pagan cults of yesteryear. Ley lines pulse beneath the earth, their potent arcane energy tapped by greedy sorcerers. Doorways to the perilous realm of Fairy allow transit between worlds, for those charmed or blessed by the lords of the Elflands.

Travellers of adventurous spirit are drawn to this realm, for the place is rife with intrigue, secrets, and magic. Heroes may gain renown by striking out against the encroaching forces of evil in the surrounding lands. Explorers may unearth treasure hordes and lost relics in forgotten crypts and hidden lairs. Wanderers may discover a cornucopia of weird, magical herbs and fungi in the untrod depths of the woods of the region. Students of magic may unravel the secrets of the standing stones to the north, discovering long lost magic of centuries past.

Nerath holds dark and mysterious secrets that have remained hidden for many many years. Step then, bold or foolhardy adventurer, into this mystical and dark realm and beware, for little here is as it seems!

Our companions have spent the last two days traveling south from the settlement of Dardun in the Barony of Harkenwold traveling to the village of Desul Torey. They have encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail and ambush the unprepared.

As the companions traveled further south, closer to Desul Torey - darkness begins to set in. The night air surges fierce and sweet, carrying the clear musk smell of the woodlands. The soft murmurs of stirring leaves, insects, and small animals of the night fill the landscape. The clear highland sky, full of stars, stretches out before them and seems to go on forever.

From this point along the Trail the region seems peaceful, untouched and beautiful but the two companions know better. Dense forests of tall pines carpet the mountainsides, broken only by the thick aspen woods, the soft current of the river flows steady. The mountains, in the distance, circle the valley floor and form a soft highland bowl. The travelers have been on the southern Trail for about half a day since they turned to follow the river south. The sun slowly drops behind the mountains, stirring the sounds of the night. With the upcoming winter months soon to arrive, the air has already started to chill. In the distance to the north, thunder can be heard breaking the silence of the night.

Our story, however, takes place along the southern reaches of the White River in a small clearing at the base of a massive stone monument once dedicated to an order of monks, long since forgotten. Here in the southeast reaches of Nentir Vale, located in the heart of what was once the Empire of Nerath, is where out story begins. In a sleepy campsite on the edge of the wild, a small collection of wandering destinies begin to come together . . .

« About Our Adventures »

Welcome everyone. I want to try and educate everyone on exactly what we will be doing in our campaign setting. As most of you are already aware of, we will be going with the Nentir Vale campaign setting.

I wanted a campaign setting that the players could easily grow attached to and have it so they can make a difference in a more enclosed region. We will either have to convert classic adventures over to the Nentir Vale setting or delve into other editions adventures and convert those back to classic.

Regardless of what we end up doing, we will keep it all with out modified Old-School Essentials for whatever adventures we end up playing in.

Wish us luck because I am sure this will be a challenge.

We are always looking for more like minded players and also Dungeon Masters that would like to play a modified Old-School Essentials Dungeons & Dragons that will be "dedicated" players & DMs. We have had a rough run here recently not being able to hold onto players due to real life issues. We are all brand spanking new to this modified Old-School Essentials game system as well as the Nentir Vale campaign setting so if you can tolerate mistakes being made while we learn then please give us a shout out.

Greetings everyone. I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. This blog will cover the Nentir Vale campaign setting and its adventures. We will be using Old-School Essentials rules as our core rules with AD&D used as various house rules added into our game.

This blog is in it's beginning stages and will take time before it can be fleshed out into something worth reading, but given time this place should be packed full of information concerning our Nentir Vale campaign adventures.

Our adventure journals will also be posted here. All of our Twitch stream sessions (when we do stream our games) will be posted here as well. We hope you enjoy your stay and look forward to seeing you in the future.
